Amelia Dimoldenberg admits she hasn’t made much progress learning to drive. She says the Formula 1 stars she drives with are to blame. The British host joked that she is completely faultless in this whole mess. Her new show, Passenger Princess, features her trying to learn on real race tracks. But the results are funny and not what you might expect.
A Strange Place To Learn
According to a Formula 1 Official, Dimoldenberg visited three different racetracks for her show. She noted that every track looked and felt completely unique. However, she pointed out a major problem with learning there. There are no zebra crossings or roundabouts on a race track. There is no pavement to drive on either. It’s simply not real life, she said.
She explained that the only other vehicle on the track is the occasional Safety Car. This makes the environment very different from a normal street. She admits that as a novice, it’s a good place to start. But she also thinks it helps the famous drivers feel safe. They know they’re in a car with her, so they feel secure.
Blaming The Pros
When asked about her progress during Season 1, Dimoldenberg gave a funny answer. She called it a good question before admitting her skills are low. She stated that the progress she made was quite minimal. Then she placed the blame squarely on the professional drivers. She added with a laugh that she’s obviously faultless. The drivers are the ones at fault for her lack of skill.
She also noted that the red lights on a track mean something different. On a road, a red light means you must stop. But the red lights going out on a Formula 1 track mean go. She said this isn’t really that helpful to her. The rules of the track don’t match the rules of the road.
